In The Grim Darkness of The 41st Century
There Is Only War!
Set in the bleak future of the 41st Century where man is making his second push to claim the galaxy for himself. There are no bright shiny metropolises in this universe, only decayed industrial cities where a lot of the triumphs & technologies of ancient times have been forgotten. The era would best be compared to the Spanish Inquisition, where the God worshipped is the almighty Emperor ( a physic of unmeasurable talent ), who ( when close to death after a duel with his protégé Horus ) plugged himself into a mighty computer where he still sits feeding on the physic energy of hundreds of people a day just to stay alive.
The game itself is based around a skirmish format, where units fight it out over what is usually a relatively dense battlefield. There are several races of beings that are included in this game, each with its own way to play:
Space Marines: These are the elite troops of man & field the most variety of weaponry & troop choice allowing you to set your army to your way of playing.
Imperial Guard: Drafted humans who are usually planetary based troops. If you like tanks then this is the army for you, boasting the best range available to any other army.
Daemon Hunters: The Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus are at war with forces too terrible to comprehend and, together with the holy warriors of the Grey Knights, they must take the light of the Emperor into the darkness.
Sisters Of Battle: Female space marines, who with the help of Inquisitors help to preserve the sanctity of the empire & rid it of all heretics.
Orks: "Waaaagh!" , Feral beings who live only to fight & kill (normally each other). Their armies are made up of masses of troops & have a decent array of weaponry to chose from.
Chaos Space Marines: Humanities first push to conquer the galaxy finished when a large portion of its citizens succumbed to the call of the chaos gods who banded them together under the infamous Horus & attacked Earth. This attack was only thwarted by the Emperor himself in a mighty duel with Horus in Earths throne room. This army is compatible with normal space marines.
Eldar: An older race towards the end of its existence. A race full of physics & where its people are in touch with their surroundings. Fielding this army you would have large groups of standard troops backed up by some good sturdy mobile weaponry.
Dark Eldar: Chaos driven brethren of the above. The choice are compatible with the above except they have some lethal close combat units.
Necrons: The oldest race just awakening from enforced sleep, their bodies entombed inside regenerating hulls. Their technology is far advanced which include gauss weapons that pull you apart atom by atom, teleporters enabling them to move easier around the battlefield & their own regenerating powers.
Tyrannids: A race from another galaxy. These armies use speed & numbers to devourer their enemies, but only a fool will under-estimate the amount of fire power they can bring to the battle.
Tau: The youngest of all the races, they are just starting to show their intentions to the rest of the universe. The main tactic for Tau is to field as much fire power as possible against their foe & relying on their Kroot allies to face the close combat.
